Is a stainless filter worth it?

Recommended Posts

I consider the oil filter to one of the most important regular maintenance items on the bike so I'm wondering if the stainless filter filters as good as a paper filter? How long do they last? 😢

SS filters last as long as you own the bike, as long as you dont tear it...

They do filter fretty good though. I got mine off ebay for pretty cheap, same filter that sells on RockyMountain...

I was talking to a shop guy about it and he said that it's hard to clean the metal shavings from the filter and you risk the shavings going into the bypass valve. I don't know how true this is, but I am really looking to getting one. It just held me back till I get more information.

SS filters filter at about 30 microns a paper one will vary between 20 microns and 80 microns and can break down SS filters all so have a much higher flow rate on start up the bypass valve on a paper filter may operate and pass none filtered oil a SS filter has high flow and less chance on bypass and you can REUSE FILTER.i recon it is worth it ive got one
