crazy, abusive, win-at-all-costs PARENTS of moto-kids...

Recommended Posts

Last Saturday I was flagging at a motocross event here in AZ. When it was time for the 50cc bikes, peewees, etc., they would let the parents come down on the track. 😢

First off, I thought that was a bad idea because it would distract the kids. Little did I know how bad an idea it was...

Some of these parents were screaming at their kids to do this, do that, whatever. They were extremely annoyed that their little 'prodigy' wasn't in first place. Arms thrown up in the air, sneering faces, lots of cussing, and derisive comments were the name of the game in the peewees that day. 😢

And, when these kids would inevitably fall down, we (the flaggers) would help them up, crank up their bike, whatever, to get them going. Some of the kids were crying, others were upset because they lost their place in the pack. SOME of them cussed at us! I wonder who they got that behaviour from... 😢😢

One kid's bike had taken some damage, and his throttle was sticking. I decided that it was in his best interest to just pack it in. His father runs over there and screams at me AND the kid to get the @#$ bike started and to finish the @#$# race. 😢 Yea, forget the kid's safety, just ride him until he hates your guts.

These kids should not be put under this pressure, IMHO. They may grow up to be good riders, they may grow up to be a__holes, just like their parents. At any rate, I can't imagine it being fun for the kids at that age. And what I've said here was just a small sampling of what transpired that day. Oy...

Needed to vent. Let the kids have some fun already.

Patrick

I've got a friend who is the classic psycho moto-dad. I don't even bother going to watch his kids race anymore - I can't tolerate his attitude. He's delusional - to the point where he thinks his foul mouth and flailing arms are "encouraging". He thinks he's cheering them on, all he's doing is causing a scene. If one of his kids isn't in first place, you'd think the world was coming to an end. He's screaming, yelling, telling them to do this and that, etc. His kids have several bikes often race the same class. You should see it when they come back into the pits - he's telling one kid what a good job he did, then telling the other son what he did wrong, why his brother beat him, etc. Just about every race I've been to, one of his sons starts crying.

The funny part is when he starts giving his kids tips. I really don't see how he can give anyone useful tips, considering he can't ride worth a sh!t, never raced MX or even ridden on a MX track, and rides a POS clapped out old DR350 with a metal gas tank....

This is the prime example of parents living *their* dream threw their kids!! 😢 My mom was like that to over softball 😢 I have a 4y/o that says he wants to race, and I'm soooo excited about it(I think more than he is) but if one day he didn't want to do it, Big deal 😢 You can't be an @ss hole parent. Just be proud of your kids no matter what place they are in 😢

Remember a couple years ago when that one hockey dad beat another hockey dad to death in front of each other's children? Nice.

No wonder foreigners want to see us dead. 😢 RR.

Remember in NY when one dad broke 2 hockey sticks over the coaches face for taking his son out? The coach is my uncle. He got a nice lump sum out of that one im sure. And the dad was an illegal... got his ass deported. 😢

I'm not a parent, but if I were, I would not yell at my kids over a MX race. Now when junior's in high school and comes home to tell me he knocked up some hooker....then I would kick his a$$.

My 4 year old has shown an interest in my racing and likes to go to the races with me. He hangs out with the other guys while I'm on the track and meets me at the exit with his helmet to ride back to the pits with me...likes to throw my gogles to the crowd. He has his own 50 and next year I'll let him try if he is ready. This year I didn't feel he had enough control to ride out there with other riders... Win or lose, I'll be waiting at the pit exit to ride back to the pits with him, no need for me to be on the track, that is for the flaggers. 😢

He has been my #1 fan and I plan to be his biggest fan... 😢😢😢

Ahh yes...but the True Sport Nazi Parent would only kick his ass after he grilled the kid about whether or not she was foxey & rich. If so, the Sport Nazi Parent would then hop on the gravey train and suck the teat dry! If not, then look out junior! 😢😢

Sport Nazi Parents probably have a shrine they burn candles to with a big picture of Tony Alessi. 😢

I actually saw a dad grab his kid by the mouth of his helmet screaming at him about how much of an A#@hole he was, then he kicked the kids bike over and threw his gloves on top of the motorhome. I waited about 10 minutes then walked over and nicely told him If I ever saw him do that again I would beat the sh#@ out of him right in front of his kid. May not of been the right thing to do, but I had to do something. I couldn't just sit there. MIKE

The best way to shut morons like that up is to wheel a 250 over to them and say "here, take my bike and show your kid what you mean on the big track." Not one will EVER take you up on it. They're all &%$#@! 😢

That's a good point, how many people would have the balls to get on a bike and ride when challenged like that. 😢

Most kids will end up resenting their parents when they are treated this way, nobody wins. 😢

i must be lucky

my dads cool, he has never once got angry at me for anything i have done wrong, no mater what i do if he feels that i made that decision on the track for a reason he will back me 110%.

he will always congadulate me and tell me how good i was. when we get back to the pits we usually discuss what i was doing and what i could change in my style to suit the conditions. then we work on setup

its working, this is my first full year and i am now , junior driver of the year mark webber award, junior club champin, 2nd overall state zone seris 😢

thats only the start.

ps. this ain't racing moto's its go karts, still motorsport just 4 wheels
