There has to be another way to do this. I've got a secondhand '02 YZ426 I'm concidering buying that came with a Scotts damper in a box of other goodies with the bike but not attached. The previous owner had removed it for MX after quitting woods riding. It had been attached on top of the triple clamp but he apparently had to bend the crossbar up in order to fit the unit and have use of it's knobs. Shouldn't it have fit without doing that to the handlebar? I looked at pictures on Scotts website showing a damper mounted on a 426 and the little knobs were forward of the crossbar. I'd like a 1 1/8 dia. handlebar without crossbar but it's set up for 7/8 in. already. Any thoughts on this delema? Was it maybe the wrong model damper to begin with?
