Safe to charge in the bike?

Is it safe to top up the battery with a battery tender if the battery is still in the bike such as thru an electric vest cord?

Yes. That is how a battery tender is intended to be used.

Most people mount the part of the battery tender that fits on the battery semi-permanently on the bike, then just plug it in when the bike is parked. Zip tie the connection that you plug into to part of the frame where you can get at it easily and keep it plugged in when not riding, the battery will last much longer.

I made leads that extend out to the air box cover with insulated connectors. When I want to plug it in, I just take the air box cover off and plug it in. ?
