FOUR STOKED Posted December 11, 2004 I put a DID X-ring chain on my bike. The clearance is close as you have stated. Fast Way makes a shim to go behind the countershaft sprocket that is only about 2 or 3 dollars. There were some earlier posts about the spring washer that preloads the counteshaft sprocket shattering do to the added out spacing. It seems that the spacer allowed the spring washer to be over collapsed and with it being hardened it would break. The solution is to obtain or make a washer of the approximate same thickness (about .030 of an inch I think) and put it on the outside face of the countershaft but on the inside of the spring washer to prevent over collapsing of the washer and the subsequent possible failure of the washer. I personaly ran mine without the outside washer for a while and never had a problem but when I seen the post I took a regular washer and carefully ground it down to the appropriate thickness and installed to be safe. 😢
