feetup&sliding Posted December 15, 2004 I am in the process of building up a manual clutch 4 spd XL 70 bottom end, 88 kit, and ported 70cc head. I am in need of an ignition solution becuase this bottom end had points. The motor is going in my CRF50 and would like to use the ignition system/stator backing plate off the 50 on this older bottom end. Will it fit? IF not what should I use? My reason for asking is, because, I converted a '77 Z50 engine (with the 3-speed semi-auto trans) by using an XR crank assembly. I modified the left side case, to acccomodate the stator pickup, and used the XR stator/flywheel assembly, with no problems whatsoever. And, to keep it as new as possible, I used an XR50 cylinder, piston/rings, head, cam, and cam chain. It runs as good as a stock XR50, leading me to believe that there is room for serious engine upgrades, in the future. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
