longwings Posted December 16, 2004 I got my new Scotts damper and Flexx bars installed yesterday, took awhile cause my throttle tube was cracked and I had to wait for a new one! I went with the BRP submount that raises the bars an inch or so and it's way more comfortable for me when standing now.Anyway, test rode the bike in the field next to my house for about 10 minutes (thats all the neighbors can take!) At first I really didn't notice much of a diff, then I decided to take a run across the freshly turned dirtclod part of the field where normally I only venture into by accident! and wow what a difference, the bike tracked through the rough stuff like it wasn't there! 😢 I am really excited now about getting out and riding some other types of terrain! took some pictures of my bike with the new setup but don't have a clue how to post them here? armourbl Posted December 16, 2004 Did you get the 12 or 14 degree sweep? I think the 14 degree is more the CR bend and the 12 is the Yamaha bend. I may be getting a set soon, that's why I ask. ben
Ride Posted December 16, 2004 Yep, your going to love them. Run them for a while and then jump on a bike without them and you will feel a noticeable difference. They are an investment but like a damper you can take them with you to your next bike. Here is mine with the Rooster (TT sponsor) hand guards (we worked with Fasstco to design these) http://www.roosterperformance.com/private/ICS/Flexx-ICS-1.jpg http://www.roosterperformance.com/private/ICS/Flexx-ICS-2.jpg Hand guards - http://www.roosterperformance.com/RP-products_handguards.htm
pritchard67 Posted December 16, 2004 How about hand gaurds.I cut down my bars 1/2" each side,Install hand gaurds.I also run t GPR v2 dampner.sweet set up. 😢
Ride Posted December 16, 2004 Fasstco makes an "Enduro" bar now that is 3/4 inch more narrow. The cool thing is they take it out of the center section so you do not loose bar mounting space for all the crap modern 4 strokes have. 😢
qadsan Posted December 16, 2004 The Powermadd handguards also fit the Flexx bars and they also get good reviews among the ATV & Snow folks. If you google for words like powermadd & handguards, you'll find a lot of info and you can often find their products on sale or discounted from various places. For the Flexx bars, you'll need the Star Series Handguards, the Mounting System & the Star Series Hand Wraps to complete the package. http://www.powermadd.com/product_frameset.cfm AND...the TT store sells these handguards at a discount! And...you get free shipping with orders of $149 or more and there's no sales tax for me since I'm in CA...And the purchase supports TT! 😢
Ride Posted December 17, 2004 Yes, but they are just plastic shield not metal raparound guards. Cole (owner of Fasstco) and I developed this hand guard specifically for the their bars. Buying ours also supports TT as Fasstco and Rooster are both sponsors. Also look at the powermadd, you need to buy the shields $35, the mounts $20 and the raparounds $35 making it $90. Its good to have options. 😢
qadsan Posted December 17, 2004 Hmmm, I thought with the wrap attachment they were metal wrap around guards??? At least that's what I got out of reading various articles, searching message boards and talking to different folks. I was almost ready to order several sets, but I think I'll research them a bit more. I know I don't like the Acerbis red guards as they will twist or bend upon impact and they'l turn pink after a while 😢 http://www.powermadd.com/images/handwrap.jpg http://www.atvwv.com/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=524&PN=1 http://www.mxadrenaline.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=
Ride Posted December 17, 2004 I believe the rap is aluminum but only meets the plastic guard and does not attach to the bar at the inner end.
longwings Posted December 17, 2004 I have the 12 degree sweep, the guy at Fasstco said that alot of people were going that way, the 14 degree he said was too much and some were returning them for the 12's? probably a matter of personal preference.

I believe that Cycra makes handgaurds that work on the Flexx bars, pricey too $100.00+ sounds like there may be other options as well. previous thread!
