Is there any sportbike wheels that will fit my DRZ?

Not without a hell of a lot of fab-work.....

I'm no expert, but I've heard of swingarm mods, design and manf. of custom spacers, adaptation of brakes and sprockets....There was a pretty long thread about a Guy who used to make a certain wheel work...GS 500 wheels I think....but I'm not sure if it made it thru the upgrade.

I do know that there are none that will just bolt up....very labor intensive to pull it off, but there are some out there.....

GS500 wheels do and early RGV wheels which is what I have for mine. They need a little bit of work though.

For those that are interested, here's the details of my wheels.

The wheels are early Suzuki RGV250 wheels. The rear is 18" which means the gearing is close to dirt wheels and I can use the same chain. Later 17" wheels also fit but you this does have a larger affect on the gearing. Some people say that you get a better choice of tyres with 17” rims but I haven’t had any problems. I have 14/47 dirt and geared up slightly to 14/44 for the road, which gives a top speed of around 90 mph. I'm pretty sure that it will take a 43 on the back, with the same chain, for a little more top but I haven't tried yet. A 15 front sprocket would be a better solution for road use but would add to my change over time, currently 10 minutes. The rear sprocket is the RGV fitting, not DRZ.

At the back I use the standard spacer on the right and a large 3mm thick washer on the left. The cush drive on the cast wheels takes up a fair amount of space. I bought these wheels part modified so I'm not sure whether the sprocket carrier was machined at all, it looks like some metal may have been removed. The wheel actually sits very slightly off centre to the right(by 1-2mm), but since many SM wheels are spoked up to do exactly the same, this is not a problem. In fact it ensures that there is clearance between the chain and the 150 rear tyre. The rear disc was machined from a piece of 5mm stainless plate by a friend of mine and works very well. The standard RGV disc lined up OK but it was 10mm smaller diameter so the pads would have worn very unevenly. There might be a disc you can buy to fit, I didn't look that hard for one. You could certainly get one made up by a specialist brake disc firm.

At the front I am using a standard DRZ disc mounted on a 9mm thick alloy plate which bolts to the hub. You could use any size disc meant for a DRZ in there, with a calliper spacer if you use a big disc. Since I can pull stoppies with the standard disc I never saw the need for anything bigger, I just have to squeeze a little harder. I had wheel spacers made up from a length of alloy tubing. The standard DRZ speedo drive won't fit the cast wheels so I had to sort out something else for a speedo. I was using a cycle speedo which allows 2 different wheel sizes to be programmed in but found the wiring wasn't strong enough to cope with off-road use.

Weight wise, the wheels are about the same weight as the stock dirt wheels, perhaps slightly heavier, but I haven't actually weighed them to check. Providing you only want them for street use they are great. If you're thinking of going SM racing, with off road sections, I would probably stick to wired wheels. Replacing a bent rim would be easier than replacing a whole wheel if you have had to do any machining and I believe spoked wheels are stronger because the rim is supported at 36 places rather than just 3. As for riding, I have never ridden a bike with spoked SM wheels so I can't tell you if there is a difference. I have ridden with other SMs though; mainly KTM640s fitted with big discs, and I didn't have any problems keeping up. That doesn't mean anything though because it really comes down to the rider.
