dr 650 tire size question

Recommended Posts

I am looking for new tires for the 1999 dr 650 I just bought. It has the stock Bridgstone trail wings on it 120/90/17. Will 130/90/17 or 140/80/17 fit also? I have narrowed it down to dunlops, pirellis or metzlers.

I've got a 130 D-606 on my 650. I'm not sure about the 140's on that wheel. I'd suggest calling a dealership and asking what rim width is acceptable for a 140 or larger. The wrong width can cause handling issues.

I installed a 130/90/17 Bridgestone MT-21 on my 2002 and it fits well but is wearing rapidly. I like the Dunlop 739F for the front and it works very well, wears very well but is NOT DOT legal. To compensate for the taller rear tire I've dropped the countershaft sprocket one tooth from stock to a 14.

i run the 606 in the 130 as well. it is a great off road tire. but whatever you do get rid of those deathwings asap. they are only good for the street.
