Tony@altitude Posted December 17, 2004 I need some help! My bike bogs when hitting the throttle, especially when you turn it quickly. I have a Twin Air filter and I've drilled a few holes on the top of the airbox. My jetting is 148 main, 45 pilot, needle in the 4th position, screw is a good 2 1/2 turns out. This was suggested by my Honda dealer. Any suggestions on getting rid of the bog? Thanks, Tony
skipn8r Posted December 17, 2004 I'm at 5,300 ft with a completely stock '05 X. I'm running the stock 40 slow jet, a 145 main jet, stock needle at 2nd clip position (1 leaner than stock) and 2-1/2 turns out on the pilot screw. Mine seems a little rich, but I'm working on it. Your settings sound a bit on the rich side for a 6,000 ft relatively stock bike. What is your leak jet?
Tony@altitude Posted December 17, 2004 My leak jet must be stock. I need to learn more about the various jetting changes and how it effects the various power curves. I had stock jetting, set for California, and the bike was slow and didn't want to start. Now the bikes faster, I just need to address the bog! Thanks for your help. skipn8r Posted December 17, 2004 A couple of good sites that can help: Rick Ramsey is at altitude in Colorado and has a mildly uncorked X. Thumperfaq is a Yamaha site but has good info on the FCR carb.
