n500p Posted December 18, 2004 I just bought a 2005 WR 250FT and love it so far. I am in the process of breaking it in right now. After break in I want to do the modification that everyone talks about with the Throttle Screw, Exhaust, and Grey Wire. Does anyone know if the 2005 WR 250 is any different than the earlier models. I assume the mod would be performed the same. I want to get going on the higher performance mod but am a little scared about tearing into my 2 day old bike. Thanks
wrooster Posted December 18, 2004 I want to do the modification that everyone talks about [...] Does anyone know if the 2005 WR 250 is any different than the earlier models. mods are the same. read through this entire thread, https://thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204615 and of course the venerable 250F FAQ at http://www.thumperfaq.com/sitemap.htm don't worry about tearing into your new bike; the FREE MODS are easy to undertake, and will get you familiar with your new bike a well. congratulations on the new ride and have fun. jim aka the wrooster '01 wr250f ps, see also: https://thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204064 and https://thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=201558
tmtex Posted December 18, 2004 Exactly what wrooster said. I was hesitant at first with a new bike but its really no big deal. you HAVE to do all the free mods at least. It does make a difference. Your not going to hurt anything only improve. Real easy, read through the docs and your all set. any Q's just ask.
Dirttrax Posted December 18, 2004 I'm no mechanic, but did the grey wire and exhaust myself. (I had the dealer do the throttle stop). There are really nice photos on this forum for the grey wire and exhaust: https://thumpertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=204064&parentpage=

tarry Posted January 1, 2006 Good, a fellow Texan! My 05 wr is a new bike with the mods. I was a little scared myself but all is good! Do the mods. and enjoy. Dont skimp on other bike armor and stuff if budget allows, unless you are not riding the trails hard!
