BrianVT Posted December 18, 2004 The AMA and BRC magazines have printed articles about this travesty. Thanks to all who've supported this cause. We can't let this go. The latest happenings are summarized by the info I've copied below from internet correspondences. We'll try to keep you informed as this progresses. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- History: http://www.netra.org/news/currentevents.htm -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The VT Attorney General has released a summary of his findings on the Red Fox travesty in the form of a six page letter to the Windham County Sheriff, the Jamaica Select Board, and the Windham County State's Attorney. The letter is posted at http://www.atg.state.vt.us You have to click on the link for the full letter. Here is my quickie summary after a first reading. The findings are very much in our favor. The two negatives are that the AG found no criminal misconduct, and the issue of possible civil rights violations is not mentioned in the report. However, the documentation and analysis of the facts essentially shows that we did everything right, and select board members and the Sheriff's Department did everything wrong; and further, everything we said was right, and everything the Sheriff's Department said was wrong. Ultimately, it castigates the actions of the Sheriff's Department and select board members. It falls short of finding criminal misconduct because their actions could have been based on incompetence or "confusion." However, it seems apparent from the facts as they are laid out, that if you connect a couple of dots, that these actions constituted intentional misconduct. The report also gives us a little more insight into the political basis behind these actions, which includes a contract for services with the Sheriff's Department which was under consideration by the select board, and a phone call to Lt Lake by a select board member. Guess they are getting out of criminal misconduct with the old "incompetence and/or confusion" copout... Can you say abuse of power... 😢 Thanks for the update & links, going to read the letter. BrianVT Posted December 18, 2004 Yah, incompetence and/or confusion relieves them of responsibility. What happens in other professions ? Architect: "Your Honor, someone told me the required setback from the property line was 20 feet." Judge: "Oh, okay. Well, what's done is done. The neighbor will just have to get over it. Try to get it right next time." YAH RIGHT !
Harry Paratestes Posted December 18, 2004 Me thinks Ben Williams has been smoking hockey tape. George Weir, if not a complete liar, certainly has an interesting view of his role, after all, wasn't it logging trucks destroying the roads that started the complaints in the first place?
