jnk Posted December 18, 2004 Left my DRZ out during a particullary stormy night. The ground softened the stand went though the mud and my bike landed on its side. Found her there the next morning (the horror !) Took me many presses of the magic button to get her started. Once I did that I noticed a considerable amount of bluish water running out of the drain hole of my airbox. Must have flooded by the same hole while it was on its side. Opened up the air box and noticed the lower part of my airfilter was wet. What should I do now ? Is it possible that water could have passed all the way through the carb and into the engine ? Can I hope that since I was able to start her water must not have entered to the carb ? What else should I do except from cleaning and reoilling the filter ? Noble Posted December 18, 2004 Once it is started, you have no problem. Ride it to make sure it is fully warm and dried out. The water in the air filter will dry as you ride. The best thing to do is to ride it 10 miles or more.
Erik Marquez My Rides (5) Posted December 18, 2004 Spot on 😢 I would have switched to a spare filter, then ran as Nobel suggested 😢 Also, check the oil after you have dried it out a bit. If it has a gas smell, I would change the oil..on the chance it is contaminated with fuel....
