Stuck allen nut on pipe guard

I've got a *&(&*stuck and almost stripped allen nut on the exhaust guard (by my right leg when I sit on the bike) of my pipe. There are 2 of them and one came out easily. the other one seems frozen on there. I tried smacking it with a hammer to shock it loose to no avail. Allen nut is starting to strip and I'm stuck.

Can anyone offer me some advice to take it off? I need to put my stock pipe back on so that I bang out some dents in my exhaust can.

Heat, then soak in a penetrating fluid/rust buster stuff. Do this a few times, then heat again and try to remove it.

yeah, anyone have any problems removing allen that holds rear rotor to wheel? i tried some heat from small propane torch, and still rounded off bolt, using snap-on allen wrench. -jamie

Be careful with the heat. That screw has a rubber bushing around it that will not like the torch much. Try to heat up the pipe and not the screw.

Another option would be to grind the head off of the screw, then remove the part left with a vicegrip.

Thanks everyone. Unibiker, that's why I didn't try the heat. I didn't want to melt the bushing. Guess I'm going to have to borrow a neighbor's impact wrench. Do they come with an "allen" type of socket/key?
