studs in the front tire.

Recommended Posts

ok im taking my dads bike out on the ice kdx 200. and im wondering on front tire is it better to have 2 studs in each knobby or 1.

last year i had 2 in each and it worked good but im woudent mind trying something diff.

the reason im asking is because im hearing from diff. people that if you have 2 much it wont work..

the tire im useing is the dunlop 739 that came stock off my F.. still a lot of knobby left on it,

Too many, or too little, both extremes are no good. I'm using 1 in each knob on the outside knobs and alternate 1 then 2 on the larger knobs in the center rows. Seems to work just fine.

I'm not a pro when it comes to ice studs and ice racing, but I put two in each of the lugs on the Dunlop 756 front tire on my 500. I did only put one stud in the very outer knobs, however.

I've only ridden on the ice one time with them, but this set up sure seems to work for me for just horsing around. The lugs on the 756 are spaced farther apart than the 739's, so it miight be a wash either way.
