2003 YZ250F Jetting Problems

Recommended Posts

I am having problems with my bike and think it must be jetting related.

My bike ran great in AZ all year long. I now live in Seattle (right at sea level) but obviously it is much colder (average temp around 45 degrees). And very wet / high humidity.

My bike will not run without leaving the choke on. It is pretty difficult to start as well. I have tried adjusting the fuel screw (pilot) out with no luck..

SHould I richen it up on the pilot and main? What about the starter jet?

Any other ideas?

If it never coughs and sputters as it warms up with the choke on, then you need to bump up the starter jet.

But yes as a general rule when it's a lot colder than the bike was tweaked for, you will need to go up on the main and the pilot, and the needle as the air is denser and has more oxygen.
