I saw #12 @ the gym today...

Recommended Posts

Well I was spinning on the bicycles at the gym today, and in walked David Vuillemin. He was with his girlfriend, wife, or fiance who was absolutely beautiful. There was only one bike open, and it happened to be next to me. I gave him a smile when he walked up, and he knew I knew who he was. He said he's been feelin good, and I asked him about his bike off the line. He gave a frown, but says he's workin hard to get off the line faster. Really a pretty cool guy. It's nice, I've seen him, Chad Reed, Michael Byrne, all at the LA Fitness in Murrieta. I guess I'm blessed to be where I am, I'm gonna head up to Corona and watch everyone ride @ the factory test tracks.

Peace,

~Jay

i always wondered what it'd be like to have famous MX'ers grabbing a bite to eat at the local pizzaria or shopping for groceries at the supermarket. Only in So.Cal..

I saw DV a couple of years ago at a Holiday Inn while at the Steel City National. He was eating breakfast (on race day) and had a huge freakin pile of bacon/eggs/pancakes, etc. We couldn't believe it!!.....Sure didn't seem to affect him when the gate dropped. We spoke w/ him briefly, but you couldn't be more spot on......supe nice guy, very friendly, and in my opinion, one of the greatest talents this sport has ever seen.

Dude's got a style all his own.

Yeah, I've bumped in to Michael Byrne in the Albertons down the street. I've also been fortunate enough to play several rounds of golf with Jeremy McGrath. You think he's fast on a motorcycle, check him out in a golf cart!

I saw David Bailey at a 10K road race in Greensboro, NC back when he was in his prime. Looked surprised that some skinny legged local kid knew who he was. He was nice though....

Saw Ricky Johnson at Best Buy in Charlotte, NC several years ago while he was shopping with his wife. Said hello and talked briefly....

Damon Bradshaw showed up at one of our local hare scrambles just as he was getting started on the 125's. Quit after the first lap after getting hurt or a having a flat tire..

he just laughed & said "Thanks dude!"

Other than that I've seen a good few Movie Stars when I was in Calli, to me things like that just get the " Big Deal! " Reaction.

I'd rather not have to chew when I breathe which is necessary with all the smog in socal. I'll stay up in norcal. It can be cool to see people in person. They film alot of movies where i live so I've seen quite a few "stars".

Garrett Poucher and Skyler Howes of Garrett Offroad Racing are headed to Dakar!  These US privateers are headed there for their first times but Skyler is fresh off a victory at last week's Baja Rally, won the Sonora Rally in March and this team placed third in the Baja 1000.

They have a fundraising link set up and could use your help.
I raced with Garrett at Baja Rally last year and then both of them at Sonora and was honored to pit with them as well.  They're both super guys and work their assess off.  I think they both have good chances of not only finishing the 11 days of Dakar but placing well.
They're doing some rally training events this Sat, Oct 20 in Santa Clarita, CA and then another Oct 28th in St. George Utah so if you've ever considered learning rally raid navigation, this is your chance!  It's a lot of fun too.  More info on that at the link.

Looking to buy a used Beta 2017 500 RRS from outside California.  Can I plate (Register with CA DMV) the bike in CA?  If so what is the best way?  Don't have the money to put down for a new bike from a Dealer in CA.  Any help or sugguestions would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
