Whats up with Reed in RED?

Recommended Posts

It's a sponsor thing. Thor wanted to mix things up for promotional reasons. I think all blue gives him more luck.

Were almost there. Reed wanted to wear other colors but Yamaha wouldnt let him. He said it limited is ability to pick up outside sponsers having to only run 1 color. It was a big thing for chad and made it a sticking point with his 2005 contract. Yamaha gave in but you will notice The Yamaha logo on his clothes are still Blue. I think he should stick with blue also..

Actually, he's auditioning for a gig at Honda.

He heard there was a guy that rode for them and wore red... and had two perfect seasons.

He thought it might work for him.

I'll let you in on a little secret... just between you and me.... lean a little closer, I don't want everyone to hear.

It was a joke.

You know, a funny.

It gets all the hero worshippers riled up.

Yamaha requires it's team riders to wear blue. Look at all of the others, all in blue. Reed wanted to stand out on the track so had it put in his contract so he could wear colors other then blue.

NO, it was Yamaha Motor Corp. that didn't want Reed to wear any different color than blue. Why I dont know, but after Reed one the '04 SX Championship Yamaha decided to bow down and let Chad wear whatever colors he wants, which started at the US Open. Thor actually had nothing to do wth it. All Yamaha riders (Vuillemin, Ferry, Reed) were forced to wear blue gear in previous years.

Yes, it was Yamaha that wanted him to wear blue, but no, he didn't want the ability to wear diff. colors to stand out more but to earn more $$$ from his Thor sponsorship. IIRC, he can wear non-blue gear at 50% of the races this year.

Garrett Poucher and Skyler Howes of Garrett Offroad Racing are headed to Dakar!  These US privateers are headed there for their first times but Skyler is fresh off a victory at last week's Baja Rally, won the Sonora Rally in March and this team placed third in the Baja 1000.

They have a fundraising link set up and could use your help.
I raced with Garrett at Baja Rally last year and then both of them at Sonora and was honored to pit with them as well.  They're both super guys and work their assess off.  I think they both have good chances of not only finishing the 11 days of Dakar but placing well.
They're doing some rally training events this Sat, Oct 20 in Santa Clarita, CA and then another Oct 28th in St. George Utah so if you've ever considered learning rally raid navigation, this is your chance!  It's a lot of fun too.  More info on that at the link.
