CAUTION: Fork Gaurds

Recommended Posts

FYI

I just discovered that I totally screwed up my fork pipe (slider) by mixing up the allen bolts that were originally hodling the fork guards in place. The ones I put back on were just a tiny bit longer than the originals, and when I tightened them down, it actually made a small divet in the fork pipe which prevented the removal of the fork spring and thrust washer that sits under the spring.

My pipe was scarred from dirt under the seal anyway, and I have a new one to put in, but getting the sping out required us to cute the pipe off just above the axle casting. If my pipe had been fine, and I had just needed to change a spring, I would have been in trouble.

Beware that when you remove and replace your plastic, you take special care to use the correct sized allen bolt on the forks.

Thanks. I have noticed that the two shoulder screws holding the disc gaurd on are slighty longer than the similar-looking shoulder screws holding on the fork guards.
