District 11 competition scene

Recommended Posts

Moving there this year... (a few weeks from now, actually, although I'll be pretty tied up with work/going back and forth until the house up here moves).

What's the local racing scene like nowadays? Best MX tracks? Best clubs that put on harescrambles? Best practice tracks for big bikes? Best kid friendly areas? Best kid friendly harescramble events?

I'm very familiar with Wayne N.F. (still go down once or twice a year to ride there), but I have had absolutely no involvment in District 11 MX since 1990 or '91.

Beyond Wayne, where do you local guys ride/race?

Try pitracer.com. Great local website. Lots of good MX tracks, where abouts are you moving to? Some of my favorites... Race-Dirt Country, Wild Wilderness, Treaty City, DMC, COCR, Kenworthy's. I hear Highland lakes is very fun as well. Pratice-Dirt Country, New Vienna (only cause it's always open and central to a few of us), Private tracks (5 fun local to me buddies tracks plus mine). Scenic Highlands is district 12 but an awesome track.

I'll be somewhere in the Columbus suburbs -- probably southeast (Pickerington, Canal Winchester, Pataskala, maybe Baltimore, etc.), but I'm trying not to get too serious or let the wife get too excited about house shopping until we have a contract on our place up here in Illinois.

I remember riding at Honda Hills as a kid. Dirt Country sounds familiar, but I can't place the name to the mental images. Other than that, I remember the track just south of Nelsonville and these county fair races, which if I recall correctly were basically run on small temporary tracks near the grandstands.

I'll check out that Web site.

edit: i just found scenic highlands web site...don't know how close it is to reality but that panaramic shot is pretty awesome, reminds me of my favorite illinois track...sunsetridgemx.com . It looks like a big, fast, open natural terrain type track.

I live incincy area and have raced d-11 for years. I would say the friendliest promoters around are american motorsports. The best track I would have to say is dirt country or kenworthys. Dirt country is changing everything this year so we will see how that turns out. Fast traxx has also taken over action sports so that will change a little Im sure. Red barn flea market in Batavia oh, is not bad practice track. Highland lakes is probably one of the friendliest tracks around not real challenging. highland also has a game room and stuff for the kids.Well you cant leave out new vienna mx great practice facility pee wee track, etc. Hope I could help!

Very close to reality...When you crest the steep hill entrance, it is like looking down on heaven.

There are some very nice District 12 tracks within a couple hours from the Columbus area as well. All are on Pitracer's track locator.

Thanks, guys. I'm looking forward to this move. Once I get settled (with a new bike, too, hopefully -- depends on how long I have to pay rent plus my old mortgage  ), it looks like there will be a lot to choose from.
