Bronco78..your input please...valve / shim?

Recommended Posts

Howdy, howdy...Checked clearances and shim size and found as follows;

Intake: clearance / shim size

left .005"/.127mm / 2.82mm / .111"

right .005"/.127mm / 2.80mm/.110"

Exhaust: clearance / shim size

left .011"/.279mm / 3.12mm / .124"

right .009"/.229mm / 3.15mm/.125"

I guess I'm in "spec" but would appreciate your direction especially on that right exhaust clearance. And, I'm a little confused here...to gain valve clearance I need to go down in shim size or is my head where the sun don't shine? I found shims in place that are half sized and not available from Ayers or any place else I can find so replacing with a full shim size won't be a problem? Everything looked good in the engine. Very clean which bespeaks of frequent oil changes. After having the cams out and back in I see how easy it would be to do the HotCam set-up! Your opinion also in the Wiseco piston kit? I'm forever in your debt! :cry: Thanks, Ross

drop both to a 2.75 shim.. giving you

.197 and .177.. :cry:

right .009"/.229mm / 3.15mm/.125"

Leave the left as is,,,,

drop the right shim to 3.10 giving you

.279

I like mine,, 90mm 13.5:1 for now... will do a 94.5mm 13.5:1 in the near future.
