Leaky Fork Seal and Scratch on Fork, How To Fix

Recommended Posts

Use some fine grit emery cloth and sand down the burr or scratch in a circular motion. This will take care of the problem.

If you have a deep nick, do the same as stated above, then add a drop of super glue in the nick. Let it dry, then sand it down smooth. This will fill the nick up smoothly.

Afterwards, use some steel wool and polish your entire tube.

Grasp the tube with the stl wool, then push and pull the tube while rotating it. This will create a x-hatch on your tubes. Some techs do this and some dont. Its all preference.

I prefer it.

Good Luck, KaBooM

Also a fine wet stone will do nicely because it is a FLAT HARD surface and if done corectly will only take down the raised portion of the nick or burr. Then finish it of with 1000 grit or some thing like that. In my expirience ive never filled the missing matireal with anything but i do like the supper glue idea. The main thing is to get rid of the nick to prevent cutting the new seal. ?
