A YZ/WR comparison

Recommended Posts

In newbie terms. For those who have ridden both bikes and can explain feel etc.......Please tell me the differences. Beyond what the specs say. If you can tell me about the type of rider the bike is suited to etc, I would appreciate it.

The YZ is better suited for tracks. It is lighter and has stiffer suspenion. It also has a close ratio tranny. If you plan to race or ride tracks most of the time the YZ is the best choice, although with a few mods it can be made to work well offroad.

The WR has softer suspension settings for a more comfortable trail ride. The wide ratio tranny is great for off road use. It has a lower first gear and a higher fifth gear which will make it easier to ride tight trails and the outrun yor YZ riding buddy in the open desert  It also has a bigger gas tank and a kickstand which make long rides much more enjoyable. I think the WR is better for most people but that's my oppinion. Think about the riding you do and pick the bike that fits. Good luck
