Raptor 660 help??

Recommended Posts

I no this is a little out of place but I am hoping someone can help. I am looking at a 2001 raptor that needs 2nd gear work. I hear they had problems in that year. Does anyone have a good web forum or no a good parts source for these machines. I see that Alba racing offers a kit complete with updated transmission parts but looking for other ideas. Can anyone help me. Thanks !

I live right down the street from Alba, and I must say that they are the most un-pleasant people I've ever dealt with. I have not purchased anything from them for this reason, but just dealing with them second-hand from friends (who know nothing about dirtbikes...bless their soul) that have spent their money there, I can say that their products are crap, and the service is even crappier. If you work for Alba, hang out at Alba, love Alba, whatever...don't shoot, I'm an alright guy, just my honest opinion.

P.S. My apologies since that whole rant really didnt answer your question at all, but meh.

~Cheers,

Jeff

i used to have an 03 raptor LE. The best forum for that (actually the forum that told me about this place) is called www.atving.com. There really good there and pretty mature (for a quad forum) www.thecompound.com is also good.

If the craptor is having gear issues im assuming its an 01? o wait, you said it anyway. Well....DONT GET AN 01. As much as i love yamaha, yamaha really gave a good screw to teh 01 owners. That quad is like the ugly duckling in yamaha's eyes. They threw it together when it first came out, then it had problems and they denied it, and then they never addressed other problems with it or attempted to improve it. The raptor is basically the same quad is was in 01 with basically the same flaws. These are obvious flaws but for some reason, yamaha never bothered fixing them which is one thing that really annoys me about yamaha. When it comes to dirtbikes, yamaha is ALWAYS striving to improve the bike, fix any flaws and make it reliable, when it comes to the raptor, yamaha could give a &%$#@!. The YZF on the other hand, was put together with a lot of thought and any possible problems (i think i remember there was one) they quickly fixed. Even at that, yamaha still tries to improve their yzf to give it that competitive edge.

Anyways, hope that helped a lil. If you need any help with the raptor, i used ot know a lot about them (and i think i still do) so dont be afraid to ask.

btw, other flaws i can think of at the moment...one way starter bearing, weak frame for mx style riding, weak axle, and intake boots pop off...especially if you add pipe or filter. O, and the 01's had a weak sub-frame

Looking to buy a used Beta 2017 500 RRS from outside California.  Can I plate (Register with CA DMV) the bike in CA?  If so what is the best way?  Don't have the money to put down for a new bike from a Dealer in CA.  Any help or sugguestions would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance.
