let me know if i messed up my crankshaft

Hey guys,

I need your advice here. I was trying to take the piston off my YZ250F last night. I took the circlips off, but the pin wouldn't come out with pressure from just my hands. I then took a socket (attached to a ratchet) and was trying to press it out. I wasn't banging on it, but I was using a decent amount of pressure with my hand without supporting the piston with my other hand. It wasn't budging after 2 attempts so I logged onto TT and read another's post that said not to put any pressure on it. ? Do you think I could have damaged the the crankshaft components by doing this? I could see how hammering could cause damage but what about just pressure?

I doubt you did any harm.

If you used a BFH you might have a problem.

i after you get the piston seperated from the rod i would check rod and piston for scoring. it should just slide out. try using a heat gun to heat the piston up

to give you alittle more clearance. that should help to. DON'T HAMMER

I wouldn't be afraid to lightly tap with a t-wrench, but I wouldn't whack at it with a hammer.

If it feels as though it is frozen, I would suggest using a wrist pin puller.
