Miami Creek, Clear Creek or somewhere near Fresno?

Recommended Posts

Anyone going riding this weekend?

I NEED to get out and ride, and it would be nice to hook up with somebody.

Miami Creek, Clear Creek or somewhere near Fresno would be good!

Doug,

My nephew and I will be at Clear Creek Sunday. He is going to start riding a XR100 a move up from a XR80. Needless to say we will not be racing around but will be doing some singletrack. We'll get there around 9:30 - 10:00 am. We're going to try and get in around 40 - 50 miles.

Jonala,

Missed you there at clear creek I guess. I did hook up with Adam & Adam (Pop & son) from Madera. We got there around 8:30 or 9:00 and left near dark. Didn't do but about 50 miles since we had a couple of flats before lunch, which slowed us down a bit. Nice day up there though! I hadn't been to clear creek since the Quicksilver I ran there about 15 years ago!

Doug,

Due to circumstances beyond my control we didn't get there until 10:30.

We were following the pink ribbon "Piglet course?". It was my nephew's second time down there, and we are planning on riding the Piglet Family Enduro.

The conditions were very good. We left 3:30 got in 45 miles.

We headed west from here in Visalia and went to see what all the hype is about regarding Avanel....oh my god  this place has it ALL! Including 1000 other riders...but it's big enough that evrybody spreads out well!

Lots of natural jumps and hits, little hill climbs...BIG hill climbs trails up and down slot canyons! We're going back next weekend....ahhh yeeaahh!

      Hey all,
I'm looking at buying a 2004 Suzuki DRZ400EK or at least I think it's an EK according to Vin lookup websites, but it does not appear to have a kickstarter. I was told the bike was owned by a motorcycle dealer and that it has a current green sticker, and a California license plate but has not been registered for the streets since 2011. I want this as a dual sport but am not clear if the fact that it already has a plate means I am good to register it or if maybe they took away the ability to register it after it was plated, California loves to do that kind of stuff. Since the bike was owned by a dealer I would think they were up on the latest regulations in California, but who knows. Can anyone add any insight as to what I should look for on the bike itself like the carburetor, model numbers etc? Or do I just try my luck at the DMV?

I am new to riding in the desert and the tiny gravel called sand around here. I run Dunlop AT-81's back home because they work well in a variety of conditions and don't climb mud ruts. The one thing I don't like is that with the narrower tread profile on the AT-81 it doesn't grip as well in hard leaning turns- since the tread doesn't wrap around the carcass as far as say, an MX-52 for example. This makes me wonder if I might "skate" less on the BLM trails if I ran a different tire. What tires are popular out here and why?

Both of my sons have taken this class and I cannot say enough great things about it and the instructors. They really give the kids the tools and techniques to be successful and confident.
