Any Help on 05 Hydraulic clutch install

Recommended Posts

Installing the Magura hydraulic clutch on an 05. The bracket that comes with unit does not seem to fit where the old bracket was. Thought about using old cable bracket. How did you guys install it? If I grind a lot of metal off it, might look like this. But the area holding the slave would be sticking out farther.

Any suggestions

I work for a high end MTB shop and Magura is one of the brands we carry, so it was only natural that I picked up one of their clutches. I was surprised when I opened the box and the machined bracket was not in the box. I called my inside rep and he told me that they no longer use the bracket, just use the stock unit. I have on 05 CRF250R but I don't think it would be any different.

I'm pretty sure the 450 is like the 250. The bracket bolts to the hole that holds the cases together behind the bracket hole.

Here's a pic of it on my 250.

I was looking at that bolt. Definitly lines up better. Since it had a copper washer under it, I was afraid to use it. is the washer sealing water or oil?

That would be oil.

Thanks for the help Throttlejockey. The bracket fits the bolt behind the old bracket. Just like your 250f

 Yay!!! This was the thread that I was searching for as I couldn't figure out how to put it on my '05 either. Could you please post a pic of the bracket now on your '05 450?

BTW, I couldn't see the pics that are loaded onto "comcast.net"

Ok. Thanks to your help I got it on. It looks great just like your picture, but the clutch does not engage. How do I adjust it? The manuel talks about bleeding, but is there some simple thing that I can do?
