50 or 52 tooth rear sprocket?

I'll be riding motocross tracks for the most part. They are semi to very fast tracks.

MXA and a few other say a 50 is best. I'm looking into getting one as we speak.

People say to go 52 also to pop out of corners and to get 3rd in the meat of the motor. Try that one first before you shorten the chain.

52T makes third VERY nice out of corners ???

I like mine with the 52 rear. I don't ride high speed tracks but it still works great in the fast sections.

I tried them both. 52 makes the powerband very short resulting in ~twice as many shifts as a 50. If you learn to carry speed through turns the 50 works well. If you park it in corners the 50 feels too tall. Try them both.

Everyone else says its a quick couple of shifts but then you don't have to shift that much using the 52 because you can pull 3rd more.?!

I tried a 52 and it always seemed like I was in between gears, I would stay with 50 or 51.

I dropped to a 50 and like the gearing much better for fast MX tracks. Stock gearing was too short for me, I was constantly shifting even in the whoops. I can run 2nd and 3rd through the corners and never slip the clutch. I haven't had arm pump since changing either, a lot less shifting. It's a totally different ride now.
