Cush drive?

Recommended Posts

I am just starting to look into supermoto, and a 'cush drive' has come up in a few things I have read. Just what is a cush drive anywhay? I'm guessing some sort of damping thing? Thanks

A cush drive is a rubber damping system in the rear hub that absorbs some of the strain put on the drive train by full throttle shifts.

Some say they're not necessary, others say they are. The best set-up I've seen is to use a KTM rear hub with a cush drive. I know one guy with a CRF that has that set-up, but then again I know a few guys with CRF's that don't have a cush drive, or any problems because of the lack of one either.
