California City - Closed?

Recommended Posts

I am planning a trip to Cal City with a small group. I just got off the phone with one of them and he said that they were starting development in the area and there was no more riding allowed. Has anyone heard of this?

The area that I am talking about is northeast of town off of Twenty Muleteam Parkway. There is a street sign for Esse Blvd. that is a dirt road. I take a left there and head back to Orphan Peak (largest hill in the area).

Anyone know the status of this area? If you do know, also add the last time you rode there.

I am about 3 hours away and don't want the surprise of finding a new place to ride at the last moment.

News to me, I know people who ride there every weekend and never have a problem.

We were out there two weekends ago, pretty close to Esse. Rode everywhere and didn't see a thing.

I rode out by Randsburg 2 weekends ago and there were plenty of peoplr coming from Cal City. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you go out there and they posted no riding in that area then go a few more miles in. There's plenty of area left out there.

I ride there every weekend, at esse road mostly, haven't seen anything. There has been some sections towords Galileo hill that have been fenced off.Other than that ............bad info my friend. Usually the group of guys I ride with are in a lifted dark grey dodge truck. Most of us have three to ten years experience out there,so come by and give us a "what's up."

      Hey all,
I'm looking at buying a 2004 Suzuki DRZ400EK or at least I think it's an EK according to Vin lookup websites, but it does not appear to have a kickstarter. I was told the bike was owned by a motorcycle dealer and that it has a current green sticker, and a California license plate but has not been registered for the streets since 2011. I want this as a dual sport but am not clear if the fact that it already has a plate means I am good to register it or if maybe they took away the ability to register it after it was plated, California loves to do that kind of stuff. Since the bike was owned by a dealer I would think they were up on the latest regulations in California, but who knows. Can anyone add any insight as to what I should look for on the bike itself like the carburetor, model numbers etc? Or do I just try my luck at the DMV?

Both of my sons have taken this class and I cannot say enough great things about it and the instructors. They really give the kids the tools and techniques to be successful and confident.
