Front & Rear Suspension Setup

Recommended Posts

Just purchased a 2001 XR250, and would like to confirm a few basic rules for suspension setup, as my manual doesn't say much of anything. I have searched this site as well as a couple of others but haven't got a complete picture.

Front Forks:Clicker adjustment is on top and bottom of forks.

General Rule: Click all adjusters from counter clockwise to clockwise, counting # of clicks. Once done, back off clicker (counter clockwise) to half the amount.

Rear Shock:Same procedure. Count # of clicks, and back off half the #

As far a rear Sag goes: With rear wheel in the air, 190 mm?

With rear wheel on the ground, no rider 181.5 mm?

How much further should the sag go when a rider is sitting on bike?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds pretty good. However the front forks only have compression adjustment and it is located on the bottom of the fork legs.
