tire size conversions

Recommended Posts

I've got a question I just can't seem to find an answer for. The Honda XR400 specified tire sizes are 80/100-21 and 110/100-18. Some of the tires I've been looking at don't use this system but something like 3.50x18. Can anyone enlighten me on the difference on the sizing convention? The main reason is I just got a XR4 and need to put DOT approved tires on it. I'm thinking of going with the Kenda K270. I ran those on a bike about 10 years ago and they seem to be decent for the price, just sized different. Thanks.

Actually Rev, the second number is the "aspect ratio" or the percentage of the tread width.
