Stage 1 or 2 Hotcams

Recommended Posts

I see that stage 1 are for low to midrange and stage 2 are for mid to upper range. If I went with a stage 1 would I lose anything up top? Vice versa for stage 2? Is the Hotcams for '04 models the same for the '05 models?

The same cam for all years. Go to thier web site, there are dyno graphs vs stock for each cam, you can visually see where the gains are. The stage 1 does lose a bit at the very top. I have the stage 1, but I never ride on the rev limiter, I short shift and ride mostly from the bottom to the upper midrange. Get the one that fits your riding style.

I have been told that for big bore kits only, the stage 2 is the right choice. Both the stock cam and the stage 1 produce too much hit of the bottom with a 490 or 500 piston.
