How do you know if your bike is restricted,have seen an article about adjusting something on the carb but not sure what.

Would like to know what iam looking for and how to change it,my bike is a 1999 dr350 sex.

If you look at the front side of the float bowl there's a round cylindrical part of the casting about 5/16 in diameter with a web back to the main body. If you use a small mirror to look up at the end of this or take the carb off and look at it you'll either see a blank aluminium plug or a brass screwhead. If it's the alumiinium plug then no one had ever removed it so they could get at the idle mixture pilot screw. If you see the screw head then someone before you took out the plug and has probably adjusted it.

Also if you remove the carb and pull the float bowl then you can see the main jet. On the side of the bigger brass bit in really, really tiny stampings is the jet size number. If it's 128, I believe, then it's stock, if it's 137.5 then someone has done their homework.

If this is your first trip inside a carb then either buy a service manual or find some pics on the web of what you're looking at. Or if you have a camera pull the carb and take off the float bowl and take some pictures and we'll help you out.
