Metcalf sounds cool, just found it on the web. I didn't even know about the place. I'm up in Fremont, so it shouldn't be to far away.

metcalf is really small, only good to kill a couple hours, but its also only 15min from home. hollister is much bigger, clear creek is the best. ill be at clear creek 26th-27th.

I'm planning on going to Salinas saturday morning and riding Hollister on the way back, need to pick up some parts and shoot the bull. :)

I have no idea what time I'll be at Hollister, but I'll be riding a 2003 YZ450F with a Rekluse autocluthc in it. Right now it has 447 on the plates, but that will change whenever I get my new D36 #'s. I might be the one putting a tall SDG seat on the YZ as well. Depends how lazy I feel, might wait til I get home?? That's one of the parts I need to go pickup.

I'll probably just do Pete's and Jay's a few times wonder around see if I reconize anyone

and then head home.

Sunday I may goto Metcalf after the SX is over on ESPN, depends how I feel.

Anyway if you see a YZF with 447 on the plates say hi, I'll ride with you.

I live pretty close to Metcalf as well (near snell/blossom hill) so I go there when I'm bored. If I really want to ride, Hollister is more fun.

I just need to get more free time, work has been chewing up all my free time (rest is spent stuck in traffic it seems. :)

Cheers,

Dave

Do you need a spark arrestor, to ride these areas?

Yes, you always do unless you riding a close circuit track.

      Hey all,
I'm looking at buying a 2004 Suzuki DRZ400EK or at least I think it's an EK according to Vin lookup websites, but it does not appear to have a kickstarter. I was told the bike was owned by a motorcycle dealer and that it has a current green sticker, and a California license plate but has not been registered for the streets since 2011. I want this as a dual sport but am not clear if the fact that it already has a plate means I am good to register it or if maybe they took away the ability to register it after it was plated, California loves to do that kind of stuff. Since the bike was owned by a dealer I would think they were up on the latest regulations in California, but who knows. Can anyone add any insight as to what I should look for on the bike itself like the carburetor, model numbers etc? Or do I just try my luck at the DMV?

I am new to riding in the desert and the tiny gravel called sand around here. I run Dunlop AT-81's back home because they work well in a variety of conditions and don't climb mud ruts. The one thing I don't like is that with the narrower tread profile on the AT-81 it doesn't grip as well in hard leaning turns- since the tread doesn't wrap around the carcass as far as say, an MX-52 for example. This makes me wonder if I might "skate" less on the BLM trails if I ran a different tire. What tires are popular out here and why?

Both of my sons have taken this class and I cannot say enough great things about it and the instructors. They really give the kids the tools and techniques to be successful and confident.
