Petcocks with reserve and the CRF gas tank

YOu guys know how the CRF sort of has 2 petcocks - one elbow right at the tank then an on -off one on the left hand side?

Well do you think it would be remotely possible to fit an XR type petcock ( os that you have a reserve) to the CRF gas tank?

I presume the IMS 3.2 Gallon mounts the tank direct petcock in the same position so you in effect have two taps?

Anyone know if a reserve is possible?

Doesnt the tank suck the fuel directly from the middle? How would the reserve help? When it hits reserve head back for the truck I guess.

The 250X has a reserve, but I don't know if the valve assembly will bolt up to a 450R tank.

For a reserve style petcock the petcock has to mount directly into the tank. One the CRF's the petcock is a valve in the line. The tank just has a nipple on it.

I installed a 250x petcock and tank fitting(???) to my IMS tank. It all bolts up perfect, except I had to shim up the front of the tank with a couple of washers tom keep the tank fitting(it's longer than stock cuz it has two hoses coming off it) from hitting the valve cover.

This may not be an issue with the smaller stock tank.

And, no I haven't measured the res. capacity yet ?

Not true. The 250X petcock doesn't bolt right into the tank.

It has a fitting with 2 hoses coming out where the R has one. The extra hose is for the reserve position.
