CR/XR Conversion Rear Mount Question

Recommended Posts

I am a little confused here. I have heard a lot of talk about using the footpeg mounts on the XR100 as a motor mounts on the conversion. I also talked to Dave at DMC and he will sell me the rear mount that goes through the swingarm pivot.

The question is, DMC's mount is expensive ($125) but it is done and it locates the motor so I don't have to. Do I still cut the lower rear mount off of the XR motor?

If I use the footpeg mounts, do I just put a spacer in the swingarm and call it a day?

Thanks!

Joe

Check out the pics on my website below. The lower rear mount is usable as well as the upper. The upper is needed to secure the motor as well as space out the rear swing arm spacers. Bit hard to explain as the CR motor uses the back of the motor as the swing arm bolt goes through. You have to replace that and by making a couple of bent up thick strips and welding back to the new spacer you can connect to the XR rear upper mount.
