CHM exhaust

Recommended Posts

I just rode with my CHM exhaust for the first time today. (05 CRF450) It is the std low boy not the SM1. It made good power down low with a little more on top. Where I could really tell a difference was in the deep plowed parts of the track. Where the stock one would would fall off a little in 3rd, the CHM kept pulling. It used to feel as if 2nd was too low, but 3rd too high. Now it pulls 3rd fine. They recomended a 168 main and that is what my bike had in it. I installed the ZipTy fuel mixture screw at the same time and ended up about 1 3/4 turns out. Idled smooth, didn't pop on decel. This is with 93 octane pump gas. When I use U4 I will go up to a 170 or 172 to begin. Good job CHM. :)

I've left CHM two messages so far, no responses...that doesn't get me too excited about their product, especially considering the PC Ti system outperforms it on the track from my testing...

I now am on a crf250r and want an exhaust and hear great things about their sm1 system but they are making it tough to make that decision.

I just picked up the phone and called. Someone answered every time. I don't work for them and I don't know about their business, I was just reporting about the pipe I bought. PC makes a good product no doubt.

I love my SM1 on the 250F. There are other places to get it besides direct from CHM...I know a guy that has several in stock. :) I got a spare sitting in my entranceway right now, leaving for Sweden on monday.

Buy yours from Ron Hamp. He supports having fun on motorcycles and also winning on them if you race. Its like George Bush selling pipes for Humvees.

And CHM wouldnt do a thing for me :D:p They said I would have to buy a whole new mid pipe and canister. close to $300 dollars.

So I went and bought a pipe from somone who actually stands behind there pipes, and will repair it for free, if it ever gets broken or tweeked. One of theese!!

And you know what, I told him that no one would do anything about the CHM he said "send it to me, I will fix it for you" Now thats customer service :):D Thanks Again Dave.

Its great when you can find a company that will take care of you like that but when you break something and expect any company to repair it for free thats wrong .how many times do ,you think that other company is going to repair your mistakes for free before they say no CHM is a small company and produces a quality product that works and as long as they keep doing business the way they have been they may be able to keep there doors open and keep supplying us with systems that work .pepole should be responsible for there actions and mistakes and not expect things for free .

By no means would I expect CHM to repair it for free! I would have happily paid a $100 or more for it to be repaired, but its crazy For CHM to tell me that my mid pipe and silencer are now total junk, because they dont want to fix it, especally when you know that they have got to have the bent piece laying on the shop floor, that could be welded right into place of my bent one.

Back in my 2 stroke days, i bent, dented, punctured, and broke many a PC and fmf pipes. And every year, I would bring my pipes to Red Bud 4th of July weekend and drop them off at the semi's. Before i left to go home, I would have my self a nice fixed pipe (didn't always fit right, but close enough). I've even heard of White Brothers doing similar things.

If you live in CA CHM may not pass the sound requirements. Before I made a decision I called CHM and asked what sound level their pipe tested at. They said they didnt know and obviously didnt care. If you need to pass any sound tests Dr. D is the way to go.
