best ways to advertise a bike FOR SALE in NorCal?

Recommended Posts

The Wolf owns the Woods. My 03 DR-Z400S is now FOR SALE.

Besides the TT bike for sale forum, what are the best ways, media, places to advertize and sell a used dirt bike ( dual sport ) in Norcal?

thanks for your advise.

CycleTrader.com costs a few bucks, but it's worth looking into. I found my 400 on there, and looked at a few bikes on it this year when I was shopping for a bike. :)

I sold my '02 CRF on craigslist.com in just a couple days, and I had people beating down my door. There is no reason to use Cycle Trader when Craig's List is free.

I use Craig's List all the time. As a matter of fact I have a set of stock wheels and tires on there right now that were taken off my '03 Silverado. 16" X 7" aluminum wheels in excellent condition wrapped with Bridgestone All Terrain tires. Tires have about 10,000 miles on them if anyone is interested. :)

I like Cycletrader too - lots of responses from nigeria, europe, ethiopia - these guys are so desperate to buy bikes that they even offer to pay you well above the asking price. :)

Gotta love the web - :)

www.Craigslist.org is great. :)

I sold my mountain bike, plasma cutter, treadmill, and home gym there. They all sold within two weeks. The plasma cutter and treadmill both sold within 2 days! All sold for reasonable amounts of money too.

Yeah, what a great deal, they'll offer to pay you twice what you're asking for the bike, and they won't take no for an answer. :D:D:):o;)

Another suggestion would be to go into the dual sport and/or the drz forum and just mention that you are selling a drz with a plate on it in nor-cal. There may be a person interested that is from thumpertalk.

      Hey all,
I'm looking at buying a 2004 Suzuki DRZ400EK or at least I think it's an EK according to Vin lookup websites, but it does not appear to have a kickstarter. I was told the bike was owned by a motorcycle dealer and that it has a current green sticker, and a California license plate but has not been registered for the streets since 2011. I want this as a dual sport but am not clear if the fact that it already has a plate means I am good to register it or if maybe they took away the ability to register it after it was plated, California loves to do that kind of stuff. Since the bike was owned by a dealer I would think they were up on the latest regulations in California, but who knows. Can anyone add any insight as to what I should look for on the bike itself like the carburetor, model numbers etc? Or do I just try my luck at the DMV?

I am new to riding in the desert and the tiny gravel called sand around here. I run Dunlop AT-81's back home because they work well in a variety of conditions and don't climb mud ruts. The one thing I don't like is that with the narrower tread profile on the AT-81 it doesn't grip as well in hard leaning turns- since the tread doesn't wrap around the carcass as far as say, an MX-52 for example. This makes me wonder if I might "skate" less on the BLM trails if I ran a different tire. What tires are popular out here and why?
