I was wondering if anybody had cut there shifter down to get rid of that damn linkage?Looks to me if I cut the shifter down to about 3" long and welded that to the splined pice it would work,my only ? is would there be enough leverage for a 9 year old to shift? ?

Get an aftermarket direct shifter so you can go back to stock if it doesn't work out.

The IMS shifter added 1 3/16" to the footpeg to shifter distance. Works great.
