Gold excels on YZ450f

Recommended Posts

Dumb question, but.....I wanted to put gold rims on my YZ. I've seen the

rims on ebay and the like, but no spokes. Questions.....

1. Do you reuse your stock spokes with just new gold rims.

2. How much will this cost.

3. Is it a bitch to put in all those spokes, never done it.

4. Do you need to take the rim to shop to have them true it.

5. Are stock rotors/hubs and everything reusable..

Thanks for any input/advice...etc. PS I have more time than money

so boring, labor some jobs are no problem for me. Joe.

Viperman,

1- You could, but spokes suffer stress over time, and should be replaced if you're doing a wheel that's more than a year or so old, or has been hit hard, or has any bent or broken spokes. You decide.

2- Don't know. Check the TT store or some ads.

3- It's different, time consuming, but not extremely tough. Check this guide to wheel building

4- No.

5- Yes.

1. Do you reuse your stock spokes with just new gold rims.

If your buying excel rims then the spokes need to be repalced with excel spokes, they have a different fit the the stock yamaha spokes.

2. How much will this cost.

depending on how good of a deal you can get on the rims, but the spoks are 70 each from motosports outlet.

3. Is it a bitch to put in all those spokes, never done it.

it will take a while to get the hang of it but it goes fast!

4. Do you need to take the rim to shop to have them true it.

no, trueing them is putting the spokes in the rims and tighting them up.

5. Are stock rotors/hubs and everything reusable, yes, unless you want to spend 1000 for a complete wheel set!

it you wold like i could sell you my black rims with spokes for $230 with shipping
