Cleaning stainless steel oil filter?

Recommended Posts

I put the filter in an old paint spray can plastic top and pour kerosene down into the rubber washer hole until it almost makes it to the top of the hole. This washes the filter from the clean inner side out to the dirty outer side. Swoosh the filter around some and dunk and drain it a couple of times, and then pull it out to dry. A little compressed air shot gently into the hole helps it to dry out faster. Then I drain the paint can top to see what-all the filter has caught since the last oil change.
