getting ready to change valves

Recommended Posts

I sent in the cylinder from my sons KX85 to Forward Motion and while on the phone with Eric explained to him that my R has about 60 hours on it with no problems at all. And that I was planning on putting in a piston and changing the intake valves. I asked if I should send the head in to get the seats recut, and his response was that the seats are very hard and durable and if there hasn`t been any valve recession to install new valves and go with it. I have nowhere near the knowledge he has, but this seems to go against everything I have read. Is this the right way or did I maybe call at the wrong time when he was busy and didn`t have his full attention? I hate to second guess his advice but just want to be sure.

I would take Eric's advice, he definitely knows what he is talking about. If I ever need any major engine work I am going to send it to him.
