Water in Cylinder

Recommended Posts

Today I was out riding, and I hit a patch of ice and dumped my bike in a big puddle of water, about knee deep. Water went into the airbox and got into the engine, and it would not kick over. When I got it home, it would kick over, and when I took the spark plug out I could see water all down inside. Do I need to take my whole head apart, or is there and easier way to flush it out?

Start by kicking it over with the plug out.

This will get a lot of the water out....then spray some WD40 in to dispurse whats left.

You may have to take your pipe off because that will be full of water, too.

Dry your air filter out and drain your carb.

Then try to get it started....whatever you do, don't let it sit with the water in it! Water makes rust.

Change your oil after you get it running.

OK I did what you said, put about 3 quarts of oil through it to get all the water out, cleaned the filter, and cleaned out the carb. Now I'm just waiting until tuesday to get a new spark plug and try it out. Thanks.
