Buying a TTR 225 Need Opinion

Recommended Posts

I found a TTR 225 in the paper and it is a very clean bike runs good. My question is how would this bike be for a 13 year old girl. My 13 year old is about 5 foot 1 and weights 80 lbs. She has been riding a TTR 90 for about 4 months and it is way too small for her long legs.

What do you think?

Too Heavy?

Too much power?

IMO,

I would go with a TTR125, I have a TTR 225, yes, it is heavy,

the power, depending on her abilities, could be an issue, but probably not,

the 125 will give her more flexibility as she grows, and you can hop it up easier as her skills improve....

Only heavy to pick it up -- it handles just fine.

Motor is very tractable and intuitive -- I think this is the optimal bike for the small, tentative, or new rider. I have two.

I agree it is a little heavy. My girlfriend has one. It is a great bike. Very sure footed and easy to ride. Nice to have electric start. She is about 5'5 and has to work to get it back on its wheels though.

I am usually defending the TTR 225, but I think it would be too big for an 80lb rider. My 150lb 14year old son rode a TTR 125L for about a year, and it was a great bike for him.

I ride a TTR 225 and love the bike for the type of riding I do. Knocking around trails and enjoying nature. The bike has plenty of power for me, but it is definately not a motorcross bike so don't expect to be getting big air.
