What are your thoughts on these handguards:

I did a search and didn't find much info on these. I had a set of the Acerbis Rally Pros and liked them ok but the fitment wasn't great for my Protapers and the room for controls wasn't that great. I also sisn't like the way they looked all that much. I recently crashed big time and bent them all to hell so I need to replace them. I want some good gaurds for aggressive trail riding that allow the bars to flex and will hold up if I lay my bike down. And I don't want anything real bulky either. I did a search on handguards and found some good reviews on the Cycra (sp?). Post your opinions please. Thanks!!

I have used the Acerbis with pretty good results in the past. But it depends on how much "use" those handguards are gonna get. If its just to deflect the ocasional branch or tree strike then they are fine. I have bent them flat to the bars before and they would pop back. But having said that I shattered both of mine at Moab last year on the rocks.

I now have the Cycra pro bends with the triple clamp mounts on my CRFX and love them. They are rock solid. Nothing moves with them on.

On another bike of mine (99 YZ400) I use the Mini Moose aluminum handguards. These ones are designed for the kids bikes. On my cut down 29" Renthal bars these guards mounted up perfect. No cutting, drilling, grinding, bending required at all. They seem very solid.

maybe you guys can help me...when i order, i cant figure out what to put for handle bar style and bar end style. I have pro taper SE bars. So do i chose Pro taper?...or no, since they are the 7/8 bar? thanks. and also, what do you guys think. my bike is blue, but im kinda sick of blue. I dont wanna "blue" my bike out, so i was thinking of gettin the silver probends with a black shield. Any suggestions?? thanks

I stick with the lightest guards I can find. Usually the Acerbis roost defelctors.

The wraparoudn guards look the part, but in practice make squat all difference. I have used Cycra, Enduro Engineering and others, and still get broken levers. No matter how hard you gorilla the guards up, they always move in all but the tiniest of prangs.

However, I have never damaged a hand for lack of full guards. I have seen my mate burst his finger like a sausage, despite the $75 EE rally guards, so I've never bothered spending the money. Also, I don't like the extra weight on the bars (but I'm just finicky!!)

Rod.

rod,

i'd have to disagree; properly installed cyrca pro-bends with the triple clamp mount are pretty much indestructable. i am the King of high speed get offs (?) and my cycras have taken the beating every time. i've never broken a lever with the cycras on.
