wr 250f 2005 vs 04-03 wr 250fs major differences

Recommended Posts

Thinking about getting a wr250f.

Would the 05 be worth the extra bucks compared to the 03-04 wrs?

Does anyone have an 05 wr that had a 03 or 04 wr.

Is it that much better? Motor, handling, suspension, new features.

Thanks for any input.

I bought a 2005 and have rode the others. I feel like the changes are worth it for the 2005. The bike feels lighter and nimbler, power is a little better and the muffler actually works stock.

Jetdave, I read that you need to remove an inner baffle on the muffler to get it to run right.

Have you done the mods to the rev wire and the throttle stop?

Any difference or very much difference?

Aluminum bars save a little weight, slightly smaller tank, narrower radiators/shrouds (now uses the rads from the YZ), rear tire is now a D756 (739 front).

There has also been a redesign in the head shape.

It's a very nice bike.

It runs "okay" when stock, but an hour doing the free mods you can find on www.thumperfaq.com will really unleash the beast.... uncork the exhaust, trim or replace the throttle stop, pull the airbox snorkel, and move the jet needle clip down a notch.

After that, it's just fine-tuning, and maybe a rejet.
