New 01 WR426

I got my new bike on wednesday had a couple questions.

1. Do you recomend buying an aftermarket oil filter or washing the stock one?

2. If you wash it what do you wash it with? Water and gas both dont seem right.

I cant get a yz needle til the end of the month. (backordered) If I rip the lid off of the airbox will I be too lean with the wr needle raised?? Im still wr timed and have a yz muffler.

I forgot to tell ya all I got it wed. It took me 45 min to start it wed. 20 on thurs and 10 today, will I ever get this cold start thing down to 2 or 3 kicks. Also I have never got it to start first kick when hot, its always second kick.

Click on Technical, then open up "starting tips from Harry".

Stock filter is good. I clean mine w/ WD-40, then wash w/ dish soap and THOROUGHLY rinsed (I have used a wet vac to suck out all water out of screen).

Ensure the thing is COMPLETELY DRY before sticking it back in.

'99 WZ/YR (you choose!) with ALL YZ mods, de-octopused, DSP Doug Henry airbox w/ velocity stack, FMF PowerBomb header, Stroker SX-1 silencer, SS front brake line, OEM YZ tank, IMS YZ seat.

I use my stock oil cleaner,I wash it w/ solvent(I have a small solvent tank)then the air hose to dry it,any other solvent evaporates :D Make sure both (rubber)gaskets are on the ends, as the engine side gasket has a tendency to stick to the engine, or fall off! I don't know much about the YZ pipe..I ran no baffle in stock WR pipe,no air box lid, w/ stock jetting w/ clip @ #3 slot and it RIPPED @ approx.3000'. I don't know what elev. you are..Should be fine...Tim.....01' WR426 :):D :D :D

Good advice Kev! Me too.
