IMS Tank - XR250

Just wondering about something - I have an IMS tank for my 250. Bought it to be able to do megamileage dual sport rides but just have not put it on yet because I haven't done any DS rides yet and I like the looks of the small stock tank for normal riding.

Is there any advantage to putting on the big tank for all of my riding? I'm thinking that I wouldn't fill it all the way and the gas weight would be held lower on the bike, maybe lowering the center of gravity. Just some offhand opinions wanted before I swap the petcock over and try it ...

I used to leave on my clarke '86-95 tank, but it was a more reasonable size. It was advertised at 4.2 gallons, but held 3.7-ish.

But, The IMS tank is pretty big and bulky - I would not leave it on. The slight gain of having a slightly lower center of gravity would be offset by having to ride with a "medicine ball" between your legs...
