Insurance $$$$

Recommended Posts

I've got an '04 S... full coverage (comprehensive + liability) from State Farm only costs $9 a month. Now that the bike is paid for, I could just insure liability, but as cheap as it is, I think I'll keep full as its good peace of mind.

Keep the shiny side up :)

When I was in Florida, statefarm only want $68 for 6 months,$1000 detuctable, no medical, only comp, liability and collision.

same company in texas wanted $77 per month for same coverage.

They are out of their minds?

3 companies to look, are progressive, geico, and bike-line.com. if you rid the medical it cuts the costs in half. but they were all within $20

I pay $196 per year with geico 500 detuct, comp, collision, liablity. its also a location which has the highest insurance rates in the U.S>

There is the difference between Oregon and Southern California. Exact same thing here is $17.

I went with American Family Insurance (local rep), as it was less than half of Progressive and Geico wouldn't even come close to Progressive.

$158.10 annually...for full coverage. That is with American Family in KC Missouri.

I guess if you insure all in one place...you get a discount. American has my house and 2 of my cars as well.

Maybe that is the thing with American Family, better rates for having it all. They have my house, truck, three cars, three motorcycles. Two more cars are in storage and are not insured at this time.

I think my rates at Geico will go down once I get my Motorcycle LICENSE - Right now I only have a permit. I also get a discount if I join the AMA..

Anything else that might drop the price? I'm 31, so age shouldn't be an issue.

COPIED FROM MYPOLICY.GEICO.COM

2005 SUZUKI DRZ 400

BODILY INJURY LIABILITY $15,000/$30,000 N/A

$99.00

PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY $5,000 N/A

$32.00

UNINSURED MOTORIST & UNDERINSURED MOTORIST N/A N/A

$N/A

COMPREHENSIVE N/A $500 DED.

$146.00

COLLISION N/A $500 DED.

$202.00

Cycle Total: $479.00

Is there anything I could lower to get the payments down? Looking at your #'s in Maryland - I'm getting RIPPED OFF!!! I emailed geico to ask...

However - Progressive wanted TWICE THAT!!!

When it comes to MC's licences, it's just like you are 16 years old, high risk. Also driving record and credit report can effect. If california is a nofault state you probably has some sort of medical in there also, so probably not bad.

I have Grange, but I have to carry very high limits to keep my general personal umbrella liability policy in effect so that i am covered to 2,000,000 under that policy.

Bodily Injury 250,000 each person, 500,000 per accident

Property damage 100,000

Uninsured/underinsured motorist 250,000, per person 500,000 each accident

$250 deductible

Towing and labor included(no deductible)

$151.50/yr or $12.60/mo

I just hope you guys with those low limits never get hurt or cause an accident :)

Well...

To contrast to Geico... in SAN FRANCISCO:

BODILY INJURY LIABILITY $50,000/$100,000 $104.00

PROPERTY DAMAGE LIABILITY $10,000 $24.00

UNINSURED MOTORIST &

UNDERINSURED MOTORIST $15,000/$30,000 $162.00

COMPREHENSIVE $1,000 DED. $99.00

COLLISION $1,000 DED. $115.00

Cycle Total: $504.00

(ouch)

No tickets. 31 years.

This was the cheapest around!
